The Tibetan Cultural Society of British Columbia (TCS) and Tsengdok Monastery Association are delighted to welcome the public to join them at the Tibet Festival Vancouver, on August 27, from 11am to 7pm. The Tibetan community of BC has developed an exciting and fun-filled program for this year’s festival, building on the enthusiasm and success of Tibet Festival 2010, attended by over 1000 people.
Welcoming remarks will be provided by Chief Leonard George, Mayor Diane Watts, MP Joyce Murray, and MP Hedy Fry. The opening blessing will be performed by the monks of Tsengdok Monastery.
Throughout the day festival attendees can enjoy performances of Tibetan music and dance, visual arts, eat delicious food, and shop in the Himalayan market. Performances will include Tibetan spiritual chants and ritual dances, Tibetan Children of BC playing and singing songs that have been passed to them from their elders, and highly acclaimed professional artists performing traditional folk and contemporary music. Everyone at the festival will be invited to join the fun of community “kor shey” (circle dances).
Door prizes and silent auction items include various crafts, music CDs, original art donated by the artists, and gift certificates for Vancouver Tibet Kitchen and the Shangri-La Hotel. For the full list of door prize and auction items, refer to: http://www.tsengdokrinpoche.com/tibetfestival2011.htm
