The aim of this conference is to continue to foster the development of Positive Psychology in Education in Australia and globally. The Second Australian Positive Psychology in Education Symposium asks: In what ways is Positive Psychology currently contributing to creating flourishing educational environments in Australia and globally? What are Australian researchers and practitioners focusing on? How can we create positive cultures and communities within education?

This is a unique opportunity for leaders, teachers, counsellors, researchers, students and anyone else that works in education to meet and be inspired by others who are keen to explore further what the science of Positive Psychology has to offer. The Symposium aims to provide a broad approach to education including those working in early childhood, primary and secondary schools and through to university level education.

We have a number of keynote speakers on board including Dr Jim Knight from the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning who has spent a decade studying instructional coaching; Professor Andrew Martin, an expert on motivation, engagement and achievement; Dr Toni Noble, an expert on Positive Educational Practices and Well-being and Dr Sue Roffey, an expert on Positive Relationships. Other speakers will include Dr Suzy Green, Dr Matthew White, Dr Lindsay Oades, Associate Professor Lea Waters and an Australian panel of practitioners utilising Jenny Fox-Eades’ ground-breaking strengths programs in schools and other educational settings. There will also be a number of other short presentations by researchers and practitioners with inspiring examples of applied positive psychology in education.

The Symposium will have a strong focus on the strategic context of creating positive cultures and communities, celebrating strengths and sharing “real-life” applications.
